== The Project ==
My assignment for this project was to create a wire sculpture that demonstrated the elements of art. It had to be somewhat tall and freestanding. My goal was to create a theme that was unique and special to me.
== My Process ==
Before I started this art project I had to do a pre-test. In the pre-test, I had to create as many different connections with the wires as I could. This helped me when I actually started my project because I had practiced making connections with the different wires. It made it easier piecing things together. Then, I had to search some wire sculptures made by famous artists so I could be inspired and think of an idea of my own. I wrote some of the ideas I had down in my sketch book. I sketched four ideas and thought of how I would create each object. I came to the conclusion that creating a swimmer would be the hardest, but the most fun and unique!
The steps in making this work of art that were most important to me were planning and sketching. Without sketching out what I wanted to make and planning how I would go about creating it, I would have had a really hard time piecing things together.
One part of the process that was a little difficult for me was the patience that went along with it. At times, I would think everything was put together perfectly, and then things would fall off or not stay in place. This project took a lot of patience and focus to create. I overcame impatience by sticking to it and reminding myself how it was okay to fail and try again. The beauty of art is you can never truly fail and there isn’t an exact right or wrong way to do something!
== The Theme ==
My sculpture represents a swimmer ready for a race on the blocks. The whole theme was swimming and my love for racing. This is important to me because swimming is a huge part of my life. I thought it would be cool to show my passion through art.
== Conclusion ==
I really enjoyed this project! I love how my wire sculpture turned out. I liked this project because it was something completely different than I had ever done before and it challenged me to work my creative side. I want to improve on my attitude towards my projects. At the beginning, I didn’t think I would enjoy it at all. During the project I actually had a lot of fun working with it!
