The assignment for this project was to create a 3D sculpture with plaster wrap. My group used our body parts to create a creepy and unique figure. We tried to make it as crazy and outgoing as possible.
== My Process ==
Before I started on this art project I had to plan out with my group on what the layout was going to look like. We decided which body part would go where and what colors we were going to use. We had to assign jobs for each person in the group to make the project go efficiently. Then we had to assign who was going to contribute what body part and, if it was something like a leg or an arm, who was going to help them. Everyone had a job from painting finger nails to plaster-wrapping their faces. The steps in making this work of art that were most important to me were the planning of the structure and layout. Assigning jobs out front helped a bunch as well. Without these steps, the project would have fallen apart and it would not have gone as smoothly. One part of the process that was a little difficult for me was piecing it all together so there was no negative, boring space. It was hard because you had to get everything in the right size and position to make everything fit perfectly. As a group, we struggled with that a little bit but we were able to overcome any mistakes because we planned ahead and created more than enough body parts.
== The Theme ==
My sculpture/drawing represents different cultures in the world. We have one head representing an indian and another one African. We also have another head that symbolizes the Chinese culture. The heads are on top of a leg with fingers crawling up the side just because we wanted to do something crazy and unique. We wanted to do different cultures so that our project had a lot of variation.
== Conclusion ==
I really enjoyed doing this project. I really liked working with a group so I could see what kind of artistic input they had to contribute instead of just what I thought. I think it made this sculpture even more interesting because it was a combination of ideas. I want to improve on making the sculpture steadier on the board. Since it was one foot, it wasn’t on a flat surface, so it was hard to create a sense of balance with it. I would suggest putting a stabilizer underneath it next time.
